Vibo Telecom sets 2010 capex at NT$2-3 billion
Taiwan-based 3G operator Vibo Telecom expects its capex for 2010 to top NT$2-3 billion (US$61.92-92.88 million), the majority of which will be used for the roll-outs of its HSPA+ and 3.5G networks.
With improved network infrastructure, the carrier also aims to expand its number of 3G subscribers to two million by the end of 2010 compared to 1.5 million at president, according to company president Feng-hsiung Chang.
Vibo is likely to break even by July 2010 and even generate profits for all of 2010 if its subscriber base continues to expand at current rates and reaches its target in the coming year, Chang stated.
Handset purchases, including smartphones, in 2010 are expected to stay flat at the same level as 2009, at 400,000 units, Chang added.
