MTI ramping up RRH shipments in 1Q10
Taiwan-based microwave and RF equipment maker Microelectronics Technology (MTI) expects its shipments of remote radio heads (RRHs) to top 3,000 units a month in the first quarter of 2010 compared to 2,500 units in December 2009, according to the company.
While ramping up RRH shipments, MTI also expects shipments of its low noise block (LNB) devices to decline 20% sequentially in the first quarter due to seasonality, the company added.
Revenues for the first quarter are likely to drop slightly or stay flat compared to the previous quarter as the declines in LNB shipments will offset part of gains earned by increased RRH segments, said the company. MTI posted revenues of NT$753 million (US$23.68 million) in the fourth quarter 2009, the company's highest quarterly figures.
