Huawei Hosted Global Metro Ethernet Seminar on Future-proof Ultra-broadband Networks in Paris
Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, hosted a Global Metro Ethernet Seminar in Paris, on February 8, attended by more than 200 operator delegates and industry experts. Top management and experts from Telecom Italia, Telefonica, Mobistar, and Bharti Airtel, senior analysts from Infonetics, and Huawei's senior experts, all shared ideas and best practices for building out future-proof ultra-broadband networks.
At the seminar, Huawei explained with more commercial and technical details on its "SingleMetro, MultiPlay" broadband metro strategy, launched in September 2009. This strategy enables operators to improve the profitability of ultra-broadband networks, increase revenue, and reduce operations and maintenance (O&M) costs. Delegates from Telefonica, Mobistar, and Bharti Airtel presented their successful deployments of broadband metro solutions based on Huawei' s "SingleMetro, MultiPlay" strategy. Principle analyst from Infonetics discussed current best practices in the industry for broadband MAN (metro area network), as well as trends and outlook for the future.
Attendees also shared information about their latest innovative technologies. Delegate from Telecom Italia showcased the in-line Real-time Stream Monitoring (iRSM), a technique developed by joint efforts of Telecom Italia and Huawei on improving IPTV service operation and maintenance (O&M). iRSM can accurately locating faults related to IPTV services, thus significantly improving user experience and reducing operator' s OPEX. iRSM has tested well in Telecom Italia's labs and has been employed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
To date, Huawei has constructed over 620 MAN networks, serving many industry-leading operators, including Bharti Airtel, China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, Reliance, SingTel, Telefonica, Telecom Malaysia, and Turk Telekom.
