Interior Ministry of Portugal Awards Motorola with Agreement to Purchase 1,000 TETRA Terminals
Framework agreement includes delivery of TCR1000 Covert TETRA terminals.
LISBON, Portugal – Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT), world leader in the development and deployment of TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) communication solutions, announced that it has been awarded a framework agreement from Ministério da Administração Interna (Portuguese Ministry of Interior) for the delivery of 1,000 TETRA Covert TCR1000 digital two-way radios, including accessories. The agreement runs over a period of five years, and the terminals will be used by the security forces belonging to different organizations.
The order includes the delivery of 1,000 TCR1000 portable terminals for undercover operations. The TCR1000 is the smallest TETRA digital two-way radio currently available worldwide. Field teams can inconspicuously carry the device even under light clothing, allowing for both intuitive and discreet use.
Motorola’s rugged, intuitive products undergo a series of rigorous tests to ensure superior quality and reliability under the most extreme conditions.
“We are delighted by the confidence that the Ministry of Interior places in us with this agreement,” said Manuel Torres, corporate vice president and general manager, Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions Business, EMEA. “It demonstrates the level of confidence that the Ministry has in Motorola's solutions, especially in this case for complex undercover operations.”
The consortium SIRESP, in which Motorola is a member, deployed the National Security TETRA Network for Portugal in 2006. The network has been deployed since the end of 2009 for the mainland of Portugal and Madeira. This latest contract builds on Motorola’s public safety heritage, its leading position within the TETRA market and its track record in delivering mission critical products and solutions designed for public safety needs. With over 1 Million Tetra radios shipped, Motorola has delivered TETRA solutions to more than 450 customers across over more than 85 countries, in both public safety and commercial environments.
Motorola offers an extensive portfolio of end terminals and accessories to official authorities and organizations entrusted with public safety tasks. For additional information please visit www.motorola.com/tetra.
