HTC Legend launched in India

Even as we wait for the HTC Smart to hit shelves, the Taiwanese smartphone giant has quietly slipped in the Legend in India. For those of you who haven't been following this space closely (we're surprised how you have reached this page), the Legend is a follow up of the Hero, the Android smartphone that won the best handset award at MWC this year.

While sharing most attributes of the Hero, the Legend is carved from a single block of aluminum, similar to Apple's unibody frame for its MacBooks. It also gets an AMOLED display with multi-touch, though it still remains 3.2 inches like the Hero. The 5.0 MP camera now gets some flash support and the trackball has been replaced by a tiny optical trackpad.

The Legend is now available in India for about Rs 26,500 (we are still waiting for the official price). I have been using the Hero since its launch and might be tempted to pick up the Legend just for its looks and the fact that it runs on Android 2.1. However, those of you who are looking for a physical QWERTY keyboard could look at the Motorola Milestone.
