Sprint Local Grant Program to award $25,000 grants to organizations making a difference in the Denver community

Two winners to be selected; local eligible non-profit organizations encouraged to apply at www.sprint.com/localgiving between June 15 and July 30.

DENVER --Sprint (NYSE: S) announced that it will recognize two Denver non-profit organizations that are making differences in the community through the 2010 Sprint Local Grant Program. Now in its second year, the program provides $25,000 Sprint Foundation grants to two Denver 501(c)3 organizations to support programs that provide a meaningful impact in Sprint's philanthropic focus areas of youth development (including mentoring, leadership and academic achievement), arts and culture, and environmental stewardship.

Nominations for the Sprint Local Grant Program will be accepted between 9 a.m. CDT on Tuesday, June 15, and 5 p.m. CDT on Friday, July 30, at www.sprint.com/localgiving. The two selected organizations will be notified by mid September, and the grants will be awarded by the end of the year. Eligible organizations must be located in the Denver area (Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson Counties). "Non-profit organizations play a vital role in any thriving community, and the Sprint Local Grant Program allows us to help these non-profits do what they do best - serve the people of Denver," said Debby Ballard, Sprint's director of Community Affairs. "By partnering together in this way, Sprint and community organizations can truly make an impact where it is needed most."

In 2009, Sprint awarded $25,000 Sprint Foundation grants to Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Colorado and Colorado Uplift through the Sprint Local Grant Program.
