Genius Electronic starts shipping 5-megapixel lens modules for iPhone 4

Genius Electronic Optical, a Taiwan-based maker of optical lens kits, has begun shipments of 5-megapixel camera lens modules used in iPhone 4 in small volumes, according to industry sources.

Because the yield rate in making the lens modules is not yet high enough, the gross margin for the production is not satisfactory at present, the sources said.

Currently, 3-megapixel models account for 40% of Genius' total shipments of phone camera lens modules, the sources indicated.
