Huawei tops equipment suppliers for China Mobile phase 4 TD-SCDMA networks, says report
China Mobile Communications has held an open bid to procure 102,000 base stations to set up its TD-SCDMA networks in the fourth phase, and China-based Huawei Technologies has won the largest contract among all suppliers, according to a tech.sina.com.cn report.
The equipment will be used to upgrade the infrastructure established in 238 cities around China in the first three phases and to deploy new networks in another 101 cities, the report said.
China Mobile distributes its orders among several qualified suppliers. In order to internationalize the TD standard and its technology, China Mobile has allotted a larger share of total procurement value to foreign suppliers as compared with previously, the report noted.
