Verizon Wireless Opens Newest “Evolution” Communications Store In East Harlem, New York

East River Plaza Store Offers One-Stop Shopping for Verizon Wireless Products and Services on East 117th Street.

NEW YORK, NY — Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless company with the nation’s largest and most reliable 3G network, has opened its newest “evolution” Communications Store in East Harlem.

The new store, located within East River Plaza at 517 East 117th Street (second level, next to Target), incorporates a new interactive retail design inviting customers to experience wireless voice, data, music and video services in a sleek, full-service environment. Store hours are Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Features of the new store include:

* 3000 square-feet of retail, technical support and customer service space.
* Interactive product and service demos available throughout the store.
* Integrated systems and operational enhancements designed to streamline the sales process and increase customer satisfaction.
* A check-in kiosk inviting customers to sign in on arrival and stay informed via monitors that track their place in the queue for service.
* Roomy and easy to locate technical assistance and customer support area.

Staffed by knowledgeable wireless professionals, the new store offers consumers a broad range of services and equipment including popular devices like DROID™ 2 and DROID X by Motorola, as well as DROID Incredible by HTC. Additionally, customers can set up service features such as Verizon Wireless Friends & Family®, which lets customers on eligible calling plans enjoy unlimited calling to up to 10 numbers on any network, anytime, anywhere in America without using plan minutes, as well as V CAST, which brings TV, music and other multimedia services to wireless phones including live NFL games.

Store manager Jeff Soto is also encouraging area residents to join the company in its efforts to help survivors of domestic violence by bringing no-longer-used wireless phones to the store for donation to the company’s HopeLine® phone recycling program. HopeLine collects used cell phones to be recycled or sold and donates the proceeds in the form of cash grants and pre-paid wireless phones to advocacy groups for use by survivors.

Verizon Wireless was the first wireless carrier in the nation to collect and recycle old cell phones, and has done so on behalf of survivors of domestic violence since January 1999 – first in New York and then across the U.S. The company recently expanded its recycling efforts to college campuses through the UHopeLine program to eight City University of New York campuses in the five boroughs.

The new East River Plaza Store is one of more than 160 Verizon Wireless retail locations in metro New York and New Jersey. For a complete list of all Verizon Wireless stores, visit www.verizonwireless.com or call1-800-2 JOIN IN. Follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/VzW_NYMetro.
