Proposals to reduce international roaming tariffs will present on May 1

Major Russian and Finnish mobile operators submit by May 1, proposals to reduce tariffs for international roaming services, said Minister of Communications and Mass Communications Minister Igor Shchegolev, summing up his visit to Finland.

The first round of talks between leading Russian and Finnish operator (Megafon, MTS and VimpelCom on the one hand, and «Elisa», «Telia Sonera» and DNA on the other), which began on March 15 ended with the signing of the memorandum. The document, according to Igor Shchegoleva, confirmed to manifest on both sides of the intention to move towards tariff reduction. For example regulation of roaming prices will be taken mechanism adopted in the EU.

"The Russian and Finnish companies have agreed to pursue intensive consultations and by May 1 to submit proposals. If the model is successful, it will be offered as a base to other countries and for the settlement of roaming tariffs in the international arena, we represent it as the International Telecommunication Union, "- said the head of the Ministry of Communications. "Finland in this area - our pilot partner - the minister added, - that it held the first talks bilaterally after we began to discuss these issues with the EU." According to him, this is due to the development of tourist exchanges between the countries.

Speaking about the alleged extent of reduction of tariffs for international roaming services, Shchegolev noted that "if we take as a basis for the European model, you can expect it to be felt."
