Motorola Mobility Teams Up with Law Enforcement to Reward Responsible Drivers during National Safe Driving Month
To create awareness in more than 40 states with hands-free communication laws, Motorola Mobility is offering a reward for responsible motorists
LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. – It’s not often that motorists receive recognition for doing something right. Starting this week, in support of Safe Driving Month, Motorola Mobility, Inc. will reward drivers who commit to responsible driving behavior through its Responsibility on the Road program. Working with state and local police in select cities, Motorola will give Bluetooth® devices to select motorists who follow their state and local hands-free laws. Motorola Mobility will also provide online resources to educate drivers on new and existing hands-free legislation.
Motorists across the country are invited to visit Facebook.com/Motorola during the month of June to pledge to be “Responsible on the Road” by using hands-free technology if they need to communicate while driving. In return, Motorola will give motorists 50-percent off select Motorola hands-free devices. Motorola Mobility, the leader for Bluetooth headsets, offers headsets and in-car speakerphones to help drivers stay connected with state laws. Hands-free devices like the Motorola Roadster™, a voice-enabled, in-car speakerphone, featuring the MotoSpeak™ app with text-to-speech and speech-to-text capability, make it easy to make or receive a call and hear or respond to a text message while keeping your hands on the wheel.
To underscore the importance of responsible driving and reinforce local or state laws that restrict or ban the use of hand-held devices while driving, select cities will conduct Motorola Responsibility on the Road events throughout the month of June. The events will educate drivers on hands-free laws and reward those who pledge to drive responsibly with a hands-free device.
“Motorola has a commitment to providing consumers with responsible alternatives for communicating on the road,” said David Murray, vice president, companion products, Motorola Mobility. “Our goal is to encourage responsible driving by helping motorists keep their hands on the wheel with hands-free calling and texting solutions.”
Drivers can also find information on hands-free laws at Motorola.com/motospeak, and those with phones powered by Android™ can access Motorola’s Smart Handsfree app, which uses location technology to discern a user’s state and display an overview of cell phone and texting laws.
