SANDISK CO-FOUNDER AND FORMER CEO INDUCTED INTO THE CONSUMER ELECTRONICS ASSOCIATION (CEA) HALL OF FAME
Eli Harari Recognized for His Leadership In the Development and Commercialization of Flash Memory Technology
SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK), a global leader in flash memory storage solutions, announced that the company's co-founder and former CEO, Dr. Eli Harari was inducted in to the Consumer Electronics Association® (CEA) CE Hall of Fame at CEA's Industry Forum on Tuesday, October 25 in San Diego, California. At the ceremony, Harari was recognized for his vision and leadership as SanDisk grew from a Silicon Valley startup into a Fortune 500 company with revenues approaching $5 billion in 2010.
SanDisk's mission is to enrich people's lives through digital storage anytime, anywhere. To that end, flash memory has transformed the consumer electronics landscape enabling hundreds of millions of people to capture, share and enjoy digital content. SanDisk invented flash mass storage cards, which sparked the digital photography revolution and spurred the emergence and growth of digital music and digital video; and pioneered the USB flash drive, which ranks among the most popular forms of digital storage.
SanDisk also supplies the embedded and removable flash storage products that enable today's smartphones and tablets to reliably and inexpensively store vast amounts of multimedia content for consumers to enjoy on the go. In addition, the company offers solid state drives (SSDs) that are used in products ranging from tablets and ultra-portable computers to enterprise data centers.
"Innovation in the consumer electronics industry has the power to change people's lives every day," said Gary Shapiro, president of the CEA. "So it comes as no surprise that hundreds of millions of people worldwide use SanDisk products. It is a pleasure to recognize Dr. Harari for his vision and life-long contributions that have had such a positive impact on the consumer electronics industry."
