Nexus S Ice Cream Sandwich update halted as battery issues abound
Google has halted the rollout of the Android 4.0 update for the Nexus S, as users started to report problems with the mobile phone's battery.
The report comes from the Google Mobile Help forum in which a statement has been posted by Google community manager Paul Wilcox, stating that:
"If you received an update notification a little while ago but the update isn't currently available for your phone, this is likely the result of Google pausing the update in your area while we monitor feedback."
There is talk of the problem being caused by a spike in processor usage, although any battery-related comments from Google have not yet emerged. This isn't to say that there's a complete stall to the upgrade then, as some devices may still be able to receive an upgrade in OS, but it means that the month-long rollout may be spread over a longer period while Google sorts it out.
Although there has been no official comment on the battery issues, with large amounts of feedback on related forums it can be only a matter of time before Google chimes in with an official statement.
