MTS and Nokia Siemens Networks have completed the modernization of networks in Moscow
The mobile operator MTS, Nokia Siemens Networks reported completion of a project to upgrade communications networks in Moscow and the beginning of large-scale modernization of infrastructure in the Moscow region.
The project replaces the Nokia Siemens Networks about 3,000 base stations in all districts of the capital within the Ring Road. Commissioning of new equipment has allowed the operator to increase the reliability and quality of voice services, to increase stability provide services of data transmission, and reduce energy consumption of network equipment by 40%. After upgrading the network in Moscow, the company began to replace the base stations in the Moscow region. At the moment there is a replacement of equipment in the Volokolamsk to Kiev highway, and then upgrade to continue in the southern part of Moscow region, and then - in the north-west, north, east and south-eastern sectors of the Moscow region. It is planned that the MTS will make a full transition to Nokia Siemens Networks equipment throughout the Moscow region until the end of 2012.
