Third Emmy collected at Consumer Electronics Show

At the 2012 International CES, Ericsson was presented with its third Emmy award for technology in television solutions.

The statue was presented during a ceremony on January 12 in Las Vegas, Nevada, for Ericsson’s role in driving the rollout and adoption of Active Format Description. This has simplified the move to digital television in the United States.

The technical Emmys reflect the pinnacle of achievement and recognition,” said Dr. Giles Wilson, Head of Technology, Solution Area Television. Wilson was on-hand to collect the award on behalf of Ericsson and the team that both actively promoted and engineered Active Format Description adoption and implementation.

Ericsson’s two previous Emmy awards were given for video-on demand technology in 2007 and MPEG-4 Video Coding systems in 2008. This year’s Emmy was first announced in September.
