MTS and "Rostelecom" signed an agreement on joint development of infrastructure


The mobile operator MTS and Russian national telecommunications company "Rostelecom" reported the signing of an agreement on strategic cooperation in the field of fixed and mobile networks.

The intention is to optimize capital and operating costs of both companies in the implementation of infrastructure projects, expanding coverage of mobile and fixed networks to improve the quality of telecommunications services.

The agreement involves the provision of mutual access to existing infrastructure of both companies: Resources of fiber-optic networks, technological facilities for equipment, sources of supply, antenna-mast structures and antenna-feeder systems.

In accordance with the signed document MTS and Rostelecom will work together to maintain and develop infrastructure, transport networks and base stations, as well as to develop software for monitoring the infrastructure.

Under the agreement, "Rostelecom" and expanded the volume of the MTS are mutually transmitted Internet traffic (peering) between their fixed networks. As a result, the combined capacity of existing and new network connection points located in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk and Rostov has increased 2.5 times up to 50 Gbit / s.
