Orange Do Some Good app wins at Guardian MEGAS
Orange’s innovative Do Some Good app has won a prestigious Guardian Award for Digital Innovation for Best New App, in a ceremony at the Energy Hall in London's Science Museum. The award winning Do Some Good app allows people to directly volunteer for a whole host of charities on their mobile, in five minutes or less, enabling users to do a good deed at a time and place that suits their lifestyle.
The app includes thirty different charity ‘actions’ that consumers can complete anytime, for example a five question survey can help the Samaritans gain a better understanding of the nation’s wellbeing, whilst rating accessibility for Leonard Cheshire Disability can help the charity digitally map, rate and record the accessibility of your local high street.
Dan Perlet, Head of Corporate and Financial Affairs, Everything Everywhere says: “We are delighted to have won Best New App at this year’s Guardian MEGAs. The Do Some Good app gives people the opportunity to make a positive impact in less than five minutes through their mobiles, and it’s great to see that we are helping make a difference to charities around the UK.”
Since the Do Some Good app launched on the 31st March 2011, 25,000 mobile volunteers have completed over 60,000 actions, giving more than 3000 hours of their time to 30 good causes.
