Samsung Galaxy S2 Android Ice Cream Sandwich update out now on Three

Samsung Galaxy S2 owners on Three can now download the latest version of Android, the carrier has announced.

The network confirmed the availability of Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), via Samsung’s proprietary download solution on its official Twitter feed.

The update brings some smart new features to Sammy’s 20 million-selling kit. Not least Android Beam, which lets users swap content by touching their handset with another phone, and Face Unlock – a security measure that does exactly what it says on the tin.

Three tweeted: “The Ice Cream Sandwich update (4.0) is available on the @Samsung Galaxy SII via Kies for all Three customers.”

If you’re about to update your handset, we recommend you first ensure you back up your files and data – just in case. And it’s a good idea to use a Wi-Fi connection too to avoid ripping through your monthly mobile data allowance too.

O2 is set to begin rolling out ICS before the end of the month. Other UK networks have yet to confirm due dates, but we’ll let you know as soon as we do.
