MegaFon will provide uninterrupted communication train from the Russian-Finnish border, and to Nizhny Novgorod
Recently, the operator MegaFon took part in the "Passenger Forum" whose purpose was to discuss issues of development of passenger transport in Russia. The discussion on "long-distance routes: a journey in luxury," the report "The Internet in trains - as a competitive advantage" by Mark Burov, Project Manager, Department of Management interdisciplinary projects of OJSC "MegaFon", which described the activities of the operator to provide services to high-speed Internet access at the railway transport in Russia. In particular, he mentioned that in order to ensure continuous coverage in areas Buslovskaya - St. Petersburg - Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod, the operator places the 123 new base stations 2G/3G, a fifth of all stations mobile communication, providing cover these rail lines. As a result of this project a complete covering of the mobile network will provide 582 BC. As a result, passengers traveling by train from the Russian-Finnish border, and to Nizhny Novgorod will be able to take advantage of communication services and Internet access technologies for UMTS and Wi-Fi. According to Burov, work to ensure 100% 3G coverage along the route are on the above the final stage. Investment in this project amounted to about 1 billion rubles. Currently, work is underway on additional equipment train repeaters to amplify signals from the networks of all operators in the standard GSM, which will allow passengers to stay connected throughout the trip.
