MTS announces upgrade its cellular network in Irkutsk

The mobile operator MTS announced the start of the modernization of telecommunications infrastructure in Irkutsk in the framework of the agreements on investment cooperation with the government of the Irkutsk region. As a result of the work will improve the quality of MTS in the territory of Irkutsk, the data rate in the MTS will increase up to 21 Mbit / c.

At the first stage of modernization of the network, which will last until the end of the third quarter of 2012, MTS will work on the technological modernization of the network equipment second (2G) and third (3G) generations of mobile communication. The updated software defined radio base stations (SDR, software-defined radio) will support the standard 2G/3G, technology, LTE-ready. Ongoing work will allow MTS to improve the quality of voice communications services and the mobile Internet, and will form the basis for the further introduction of new technologies without significant time and cost.
