HTC creates HTCpro to serve enterprise customers

Mobile security whitepaper to help business customers increase security when integrating employee devices in the enterprise

HTC Corporation, a global leader in mobile innovation and design, announced the latest enterprise offerings from HTCpro™, an integrated program that provides mobile solutions for companies and their employees, and ensures that HTC’s entire portfolio is business-ready. Created to address the needs of business customers around the world, HTCpro is building enterprise-level security enhancements, management and productivity features through HTC SenseTM, while helping IT managers integrate devices into the workplace.
HTC has also released “Basic Principles for Increasing Security in a Mobile Computing Program,” a whitepaper designed to guide CIOs and IT departments in creating a mobile computing network with increased security, while accommodating the growing Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend, in which employees use one mobile device for both their personal and professional needs. The paper explores the pitfalls of mobile computing and establishes basic principles for building a program to help increase employee flexibility, business productivity and overall peace of mind.
“The blurred line between the ‘consumer’ device and the traditional ‘business’ device has made the enterprise more complex to manage,” said David Jaeger, executive director of global enterprise and services for HTC and head of HTCpro. “With today’s growing mobile workforce, we’ve found that businesses of all sizes are offering employees a choice of devices or a willingness to support employees’ personal devices. HTCpro helps to ensure that when they choose an HTC device, employees and employers can feel confident in its productivity and compliance features right out of the box.”
Productivity and Security Features … in All HTC Sense Enabled Devices
As carriers are increasingly catering to business segments, they have presented a clear need to be able to offer their business customers devices that are enterprise-ready. Through the HTCpro program, HTC is enabling its entire portfolio of HTC Sense devices to be used seamlessly for everything from personal productivity to enterprise-level business needs via the new, simple and intuitive HTC Sense 4 user experience.
The latest HTC devices include built-in document management applications that allow for viewing and editing of popular document formats, as well as enhancements to email and calendar functions, Wi-Fi printing and Internet sharing. Core security enhancements have also been added across the entire portfolio. HTCpro features deliver encryption of removable and on-board data using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), as well as reliable network connectivity via Cisco AnyConnect virtual private network (VPN) functionality that protects data in transit. End users can manage protection settings directly on the device, and IT managers can use a variety of popular, centralized device management platforms.
Enhanced support of management policies on enterprise messaging platforms makes it possible to implement password policies or lock-out device functions — such as text messaging and Bluetooth usage — that don’t comply with company policies. Enterprises that must protect sensitive data can also use native policies to enforce encryption of mobile device storage and remotely wipe data in the event of loss.
A key differentiator of these HTCpro offerings is the standardized nature of HTC devices. While other mobile device manufacturers provide enterprise features and functionality on a device-by-device basis, HTCpro features deliver business-ready capabilities on HTC Sense enabled devices — delivering consistent enterprise enablement for a broad range of business usage.
HTCpro Network of Solution Providers
HTCpro is also working with a number of key solution providers to integrate and extend the functionality of HTC devices in the workplace. HTCpro is collaborating with IBM to deliver seamless integration on HTC devices with the IBM portfolio of social collaboration applications. This teaming aims to deliver reliable and cost-effective enterprise solutions to mobile users across the globe.
And for businesses demanding advanced enterprise management solutions, HTCpro has worked extensively with leading mobile device management (MDM) providers — including Airwatch, Fiberlink, MobileIron, SOTI, Zenprise®, Inc. and 3LM — to enhance and deliver leading-class business mobility solutions and help businesses tackle their compliance needs.
“At HTC, we strive to fuse ideas, creativity and innovation with like-minded companies that can help deliver the most personal experience along with the seamless productivity that our worldwide customers want,” said Will Ro, director of Global Enterprise Operations and Strategy for HTC. “HTCpro’s work with leading providers such as Cisco, IBM and Polycom offer business users the benefit of recognized industry expertise in the delivery of mobility features that are critical to their business needs.”
HTC devices will be enabled for Polycom® RealPresence® Mobile, a videoconferencing app that combines one-touch ease of use with enterprise-grade security enhancements, reliability and scale. A 2012 Edison Award winner, RealPresence Mobile extends the reach of video collaboration beyond the conference room. This allows users on HTC devices to connect with other standards-based video systems, seamlessly and with enterprise-grade quality, across theater-size displays, conference rooms, group/desktop systems, laptops, tablets and other smartphones.
HTCpro’s collaborative work with this diverse network of enterprise-focused providers gives businesses options to leverage existing investments in management, security and messaging infrastructure — or cost-effectively customize a solution that best fits their needs.
