IDC: Tablet market is growing slower than expected
Firm IDC has published the results of its calculations of sales tablets in the first quarter of 2012. Reportedly, the forecasts for market growth have been overstated: the first three months of the new year was delivered 17.4 million units, 1.2 million less than expected. The seasonal drop in sales from quarter to quarter and was higher than expected and amounted to 38.4%. At the same time, compared with last year, when for the same period were delivered 7.9 million tablets, an increase of 120%. The main reason for the slowdown was a decline in sales of Android-plates, which were not so attractive in the set out a new version of the iPad. During the first quarter of 2012, Apple shipped 11.8 million iPad, and in the fourth quarter of 2011 their number was 15 4 million. Their share of total sales again shot up from 54.7% in the last quarter of 2011, up 68% in the first year. But the company Amazon, which was successfully launched with the model of Kindle Fire and gained second place in the 4th quarter of 2011, when they accounted for 16.8% of sales or 4.8 million units, now took only a little over 4%. This took the company Samsung, returning a second. The fourth is China's Lenovo, and closes the top five largest suppliers of tablet Barnes & Noble.
