Full screen keyboard input for Flash Player
Developers can call StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE to enable full screen mode with full support for all keyboard keys inside Flash Player. End users will see a permission dialog and can allow SWF content to receive keyboard input, or can hit "Esc" to exit the new mode. The API allows developers to determine if the app is in full screen, whether full keyboard input has been allowed by the user, and whether the app is able to request full screen, as determined by the HTML embed tag parameter.
Low latency audio support for streaming audio
A new NetStream.useJitterBuffer API has been introduced that developers can use to reduce latency for high quality streaming audio playback.
Low latency audio support for Sound API
This enhancement reduces the latency for Sound.play method and changes to volume and pan on SoundTransform. The latency of SAMPLE_DATA event should also be reduced considerably. For an input sample size of 2048, the latency should be optimal.
Protected Mode for Firefox
Flash Player Protected Mode is a new security enhancement designed to limit the impact of attacks launched from malicious SWF files against Adobe Flash Player when running in Firefox 4.0+ on Windows Vista® and higher. This feature is comparable to the Flash Player Protected Mode in Google Chrome browser, Protected Mode in Adobe® Reader® , and Office 2010 Protected View. Protected Mode is enabled by default whenever you view Flash Player files in Firefox, reducing the risk of potential security threats on client systems via persistent malware. When Protected Mode is on, Flash Player files are displayed in a restricted environment called a sandbox. The Protected Mode sandbox could cause compatibility issues with existing Flash content on the web Protected Mode is a security enhancement to keep you and your computer safe against attacks from malicious SWF files. Adobe recommends that you keep Protected Mode enabled at all times.
Texture Streaming
Texture Streaming is a new feature for Stage3D where it provides an ability to load coarser, lower quality textures first and then to progressively improve them as more data becomes available.
Background Updater for Mac
In Flash Player 11.2 Adobe introduced the background updater feature to silently update when available, based on user choice, security updates and bug fixes for Windows® . The same feature is now available on the Mac in Flash Player 11.3
Platform SDK support for iOS on Windows®
Now, a developer can copy the iOS SDK folder on a Windows® machine and use the platformsdk option of adt on Windows® too.
adt –package –target (ipa-app-store|ipa-ad-hoc|ipa-debug|ipa-debug-interpreter|ipa-test|ipa-test-interpreter) -platformsdk
This feature is not yet available in Flash Builder. The SDK should be copied properly, i.e. the symbolic links in the iOS SDK should be converted to actual files on Windows® , else, packaging will fail.
Stylus support for AndroidTM 4.0
Flash Player adds support for the new AndroidTM Stylus API, introduced in Android 4.0.Stylus-aware apps will automatically work with devices that support the Stylus API.
USB debugging for AIR iOS
Developers can now debug AIR applications on iOS devices via USB on both Mac and Windows systems.Prior to this release, developers had to use wifi for debugging an AIR application on iOS Device. However, there were a few limitations associated with wifi debugging
a) A developer needed to have internet connection available all the time
b) Both the device and the desktop machine were required to be on the same subnet
This new capability will solve the above mentioned problems and will provide a seamless debugging experience to the user by just connecting the iOS device to a Mac or a Windows® machine.
Enhanced Background behavior for AIR iOS
AIR applications on iOS now support location updates and networking while running the the background.Applications will also be notified before an application is the background is suspended by the operating system.
Simulator Support (Mac)
Developers creating AIR applications for iOS can now package and run applications on the iOS simulator using Xcode.
Aspect Ratio Enhancements
AIR 3.3 on iOS correctly respects an application's specified aspect ratio.Orientation is expressed in terms of rotation in degrees relative to the specified aspect ratio
FrameLabel events
A new Event.FRAME_LABEL event is dispatched when the playhead enters a new frame, whose FrameLabel has a listener registered for this event. If the playhead is not moving or there is only one frame, this event is dispatched continuously in conjunction with the frame rate to the FrameLabel event listener. This enables easier timeline scripting.
BitmapData.drawWithQuality
In the past, the stage quality would have to be modified to change the quality of BitmapData.draw. BitmapData.drawWithQuality is an extension of BitmapData.draw that adds an optional parameter to specify the quality of vector rendering.
BitmapData.encode
BitmapData.encode allows native compression of a BitmapData object into PNG, JPEG, and JPEG XR This allows developers to reach native speed for runtime image compression, very valuable on mobile devices.
ReleaseOutside Event
We are re-introducing the releaseOutside mouse event. The event which got removed in AS3, is now back.
Example:
1.s.addEventListener(MouseEvent.RELEASE_OUTSIDE, onReleaseOutsideHandler);
Runtime Classes introspection
The limitation with Application.getDefinition() is that you had to know ahead of time the name of the class definition you wanted to extract. Now applicationDomain.getQualifiedDefinitionNames() extracts all of the classes available in a SWF, perfect for SWF introspection and runtime loaded assets.
