NOVATHOR™ L8580

The NovaThor L8580 is world’s first mobile platform using ST’s advanced FD-SOI technology process which boosts performance and enables ultra-low power consumption. The NovaThor L8580 combines a super-fast application processor with a state-of-the-art LTE/HSPA+/TD-SCDMA multimode modem in a single die.
The platform incorporates an eQuadTM CPU running at 2.5Ghz with a powerful graphics engine, an LTE multimode modem and a full suite of connectivity in a high-performance, low-power and size and cost-optimized solution. With a small footprint, very low bill of materials and support for up to ten bands in a flexible radio solution the NovaThor L8580 further enables widespread global adoption of LTE multimode smartphones.
EQUADTM POWERED APPLICATION PROCESSORS
eQuad is a CPU architecture in which each processor core can operate as an industry-leading high performance core, running at up to 2.5Ghz in the case of the NovaThor L8580, or a very low-power core running at 0.6V.
The architecture – built on STMicroelectronics’ advanced FD-SOI process technology – delivers a faster and cooler experience for today’s applications and does not require the specialized low power cores as used in alternative multi-core CPU architectures.
