Ericsson demonstrates common operating system across IP Products at MPLS & Ethernet World Congress

Ericsson IP Operating System across its 4th generation IP Router portfolio at EANTC interoperability event

Ericsson's 4th Generation IP products have been put to the test as part of the public interoperability demonstration organized by the EANTC (European Advanced Networking Test Center), which focuses on recent advances in packet transport technologies. The test results and setup will be on display at the EANTC Interoperability area at the MPLS & Ethernet World Congress in Paris.

A key accomplishment for Ericsson this year has been extension of Ericsson IP Operating System across the entire portfolio of routing products. This includes the Ericsson SSR 8000 family Smart Service Router and the recently launched MINI-LINK SP 415 and SP 420 access platforms, both of which run the Ericsson IP Operating System to deliver an end-to-end solution for IP networks.

Dennis Blankenship, Head of PDU IP Operating Systems, Ericsson, says: "By running our entire IP product portfolio from one common operating system, we are making our 4th generation IP vision a reality faster. Key technologies, including IEEE 1588-2008 and IPv6, that we successfully tested here are essential for operators to evolve their IP networks. Events such as this are very important to give them the confidence that these protocols and the products that run them are mature and interoperable."

EANTC offers vendor-neutral consultancy and test facilities for network equipment manufacturers, service providers and enterprise customers and is internationally recognized as an objective test center.

The results of the tests will be showcased at the EANTC booth at the MPLS & Ethernet World Congress in Paris from March 19-22, which is open to the public.
