Samsung Galaxy S IV: What do we expect?

We are only two days away from the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S IV at Samsung’s Mobile UNPACKED Event 2013 (Episode 1) which is going to be held in New York, USA. This article is all about the things we expect from Samsung’s upcoming next generation Galaxy S device, the Galaxy S IV.

We have really high expectations from Samsung’s next flagship device as they have always raised the bar with their Samsung Galaxy S series. We expect the Galaxy S IV to feature a stunning 4.99″ Full HD (1920×1080) PHOLED display, a 13 Megapixel rear facing camera sensor and a 2.1 Megapixel front facing camera, both sensors capable of shooting videos up to 1080p. Samsung’s latest 1.8GHz Exynos 5 Octa CPU based on ARM’s big.LITTLE technology, a PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU and 2GB of RAM.

We think the Galaxy S IV will take some design elements from the Galaxy S III, Samsung won’t be leaving their “Nature” design guidelines anytime soon, but won’t have the exact same design as its predecessor. Now let’s talk about the build quality. According to our insiders, the device will be featuring a plastic back because Samsung can’t an Aluminium back due to the removable back cover and at the rate Samsung mass produces their devices, which is way more than any other manufacturer. The sides of the device will be made out of Aluminium, to give the device a more premium look. The front will be all Glass, we are putting our bets on Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Let’s talk about the software now. Our insider has confirmed that the Galaxy S IV will come pre-loaded with Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean and Samsung’s new TouchWiz UI (Nature UX 2.0?) running on top of it. He also told us that Samsung has been developing an improved version of Photo Sphere known as Samsung Orb, it will not be present out of the box but will be made available through a software update. Samsung’s “Smart” features are also confirmed which include: Smart Rotation, Smart Stay, Smart Pause and Smart Scroll.

We expect the Galaxy S IV to come in three storage configurations: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. All the previous devices in the Galaxy S series featured a MicroSD slot so it’s likely that Samsung will be including a MicroSD slot in the Galaxy S IV, as well.

In just two days all the rumours will come to rest and we will know everything about the Galaxy S IV. We will be bringing you a ton of coverage on the Samsung Galaxy S IV, stay tuned!
