Toshiba has introduced a new line of processors for image recognition

Toshiba has introduced a new series of devices Visconti 3 of the processor family Visconti, designed for image recognition. The first product of the new line, TMPV7528XBG, distinguished by the number of integrated cores, which, according to the manufacturer, greatly expands the range of possible applications in the industry.
Visconti series was originally created for use in auto-tracking in the automotive industry. Devices that are based on these processors are able to recognize the lane on the road, cars, pedestrians, traffic lights and many other elements of the environment. Visconti processors 2 and 3 contain the Visconti embedded image processing accelerators, enabling them in real time to detect pedestrians with a high degree of reliability.
In addition, the chips Visconti 3 should facilitate the development of software, with built-in 2-core 32-bit processor, ARM Cortex-A9, the main purpose of which - support for applications that use image recognition system.
After releasing three Visconti, Toshiba plans to expand its business in the field of image recognition and to move from car-making machine to create tracking systems for industrial applications. In 2015 fiscal year, the planned sales of devices Visconti should be 2 million. The first shipment of Visconti 3 will begin in April.
