[Update 2: It's Back] AT&T Announces One X Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) Update Is Rolling Out Today
Update 2: The blog post is back, and the update should be rolling out today!
Update: It sounds like the blog post announcing the update was published erroneously, and has since been pulled down. While that's definitely a bit of a disappointment, it does mean that the update should be headed out very soon. Just not today. Bummer.
AT&T just announced that its version of the HTC One X will be receiving an update to Android 4.1 starting today. Here's the brief changelog that AT&T has published, which basically just explains Google Now and the new rich notifications of Android 4.1, along with a tweak to the front-facing camera.
Google Now, which provides you with the latest relevant information you need, when you need it. Whether you’re checking the weather, checking flight information, tracking a package or more, you can get the information that matters most immediately in a single swipe.
Changes to the notification display that groups updates from the same application together and allows you to expand or collapse any notification.
The ability to view the full text of an SMS message and the full photo of a MMS in the notification window.
An event notifications display that offers more of the event description, allowing you to quickly see relevant details without having to open an app.
New countdown timer for the front-facing camera.
Head to the settings menu, go to 'About Phone,' and tap 'Check for Updates' to see if the update has rolled out to you.
This update has been a long time coming, with international versions of the One X having received it months ago. HTC released a revamped version of the One X, the One X+, last year with Android 4.1, while its previous flagship languished on AT&T in Ice Cream Sandwich-land. Owners will undoubtedly be happy to receive the new software, though one can only wonder when - or if - the AT&T One X will see another major update to Android 4.2 and Sense 5.
