Google I/O 2013 To Bring Updated Nexus 4, Android 5.0 Possibly Delayed
I know, I know, the title of this post might just dampen your mood, and along with it all the excitement that surrounds Google I/O events. Last year Google unveiled it’s Nexus 7 tablet along with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. This year, people are eagerly waiting for a new Nexus 5 by LG or Motorola Nexus X, but fresh reports convey otherwise. Another news that has reached our ears is that Google might have delayed Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie to a later date this year.
Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie Delayed
Our trusty internal sources have revealed something that might not make you so happy. It’s possible that Google might have delayed the launch of it’s next (generation) operating system. Everyone, literally everyone is expecting Google to launch the Nexus 5 with a Snapdragon 600 chipset and a 5 inch 1080p display. People even know it will be built by LG. And the most interesting part is the new Android OS, 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
Fresh news however says that Google is considering delaying Key Lime Pie by as much 2-4 months. This is being done to give OEMs some breathing room, who are hot at work trying to update their catalog of phones to the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Add to that most phones are finally on Android 4.0 ICS and the number of phones with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is finally a decent figure, Google might be right in giving OEMS some time to breathe and get ready for Google’s next.

Currently, the Android 5.0 PDK is already available to Sony (don’t think, there will be no Sony Nexus). Sony as we know contributes to the official Android code and is actively doing so for Android 5.0 as well.
Google I/O To Bring Updated Nexus 4 32 GB with LTE support
Google’s upcoming I/O event might be the launch of Google’s next Nexus phone. However, it might be the Nexus you don’t want. Reports claim that Google is preparing a new and updated Nexus 4. The changes won’t be much, the key new features being:
- 32 GB Of Internal Storage
- Updated Body Design
- LTE Radio Support
The last point is invalid for most countries, but seeing that Google hasn’t released the Nexus 4 in India (yet) we should hardly be concerned (except those who will import the phone anyway).
With the launch of the 32 GB Nexus 4, the 8 GB variant will be phased out. Also, the new price list will look like this:
- Nexus 4 32 GB LTE – $349
- Nexus 4 16 GB – $299
- Nexus 4 8 GB (phased out) – $249 ??
The last one is just a hunch and might not really happen. If it does, it will sell like hot cakes (like it already does, whenever it’s available).
Update
By Refined Design, we meant the recent findings (posted on Android Central) about the updated Nexus 4 design.
As for the Motorola Nexus X, according to the reports Motorola might just unveil an entire line up of X phones. Nothing can be said as of now, but as far as we know the Motorola Nexus X has a few months left before release.
