Consumers upset over imminent rollout of speedier Galaxy S4

Local consumers are increasingly voicing their displeasure over rumors that Samsung Electronics Co. is set to soon roll out with a new variation of the Galaxy S4, the latest version of its flagship Galaxy smartphone line-up, which will access the so-called LTE Advanced network, industry sources said Friday.

Rumors are running high that Samsung, the world's largest smartphone maker, is planning to introduce a faster version of the Galaxy S4 in South Korea this month, just two months after unveiling the Galaxy S4 that runs on the LTE network in the country.

LTE Advanced is next-generation wireless connectivity that delivers download speeds as high as 1gbps.

Although Samsung has yet to confirm when the speedier version of the Galaxy S4 will hit the market on its home turf, market watchers say that would not take long for the device to make its way on to local shelves.

SK Telecom Co., the country's leading mobile carrier, has announced that it will offer LTE Advanced service in September but is seeking bump that up to either July or August.

Buyers of the Galaxy S4 are complaining that the imminent release of the LTE Advanced-running model comes as rollout of the less speedier version is still under way.

"I might have not purchased the Galaxy S4 and waited for the newest model (the Galaxy S4 Advanced LTE network) if I knew my smartphone did not run on the LTE Advanced network," a consumer wrote on an Internet cafe.
