Samsung’s first Tizen device will feature quad-core Exynos 4412
In the past 12 months there have been talks that the relationship between Google and Samsung isn’t what it used to be, and could also the likely reason that the Korean manufacturer is working on various Tizen devices, but we are however still waiting on the first officially announced device, although it is clear that the company will at least release one Tizen in the upcoming months. Earlier this year we already showed you that the UAProf of theGT-I8805 confirmed that it is running on the Linux-based OS and that it has a 720p display and a Cortex A9-based processor. The big question is of course what processor Samsung is going to be actually using?
Samsung exec Lee Young Hee told us in March of this year that the company would release their first high-end Tizen smartphone in August or September and that it would feature ‘the best specifications’, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. The 720p display is already a bit disappointing compared to the 1080p display of the Galaxy SIV, Galaxy SIV Active and presumably the Note III, and the processor isn’t likely to be high-end as well. In the source code of Tizen we only found support for Samsung’s own Exynos 4412-soc, which is a 1.4-.16 Ghz quad-core A9 processor based on the ARM Cortex A9 architecture and on the GPU side you will find a ARM Mali 400. These specifications certainly aren’t the best and it seems that the GT-I8805 will be nothing more than a mid-range device.
