Samsung Improves Anti-shake Function of Camera Module
amsung Electro-Mechanics Co Ltd developed a new 13-Mpixel camera module with an optical anti-shake function for smartphones and mobile phones.
The most distinguishing feature of the module is that its anti-shake function can correct an angular error of up to 1.5°. This means that the module has a better anti-shake function than digital cameras currently available in the market (usually 0.7°).
In addition, in a place with a low illuminance, the new module can output an image whose brightness is eight times higher, compared with Samsung Electro-Mechanics' previous product. Furthermore, the module has a low power consumption, the company said. The dimensions of the module are 10.5 x 10.5 x 5.9mm, which are equivalent to those of the company's existing camera modules for smartphones.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has already developed a sample of the camera module and been in business negotiations with global smartphone giants. The company plans to begin volume production in the first half of 2014.
