Samsung To Keep Releasing A Flurry Of Tablets While Gunning For Apple’s No.1 Spot

We’ve previously talked about Samsung’s plans to focus more on the tablet market, in a quest to increase its influence and eventually overtake Apple while crushing the iPad in the process. Well, this theory is starting to become more and more of a reality, as Samsung continues to release new bits of information regarding its future plans.

The Korean manufacturer has revealed its tablet strategy for year 2014, so if you’re interested in learning more on what you can expect regarding the matter, then you know the drill: scroll down after the break.

Samsung’s Tablet Strategy for 2014 is Starting to Take Shape

This year, Samsung launched quite a few tablets on the market, and it definitely has paid off. Unlike last year when Apple held 40.2% of the tablet market share and Samsung just 12.4%, this year Samsung has managed to narrow the gap, reaching to a 20.4% tablet market share for the third quarter of the year. Apple remains in the No.1 spot, but its influence went down to 29.6%.

Of course, Apple has announced two brand new tablets (the iPad Air, which is already available, and the Mini with Retina), so the situation might change for Q4 2013 and Q1 2014. But, the point is that Samsung’s strategy seems to pay off.

So what’s this strategy anyway? Well, just like on the smartphone market, Samsung plans to continue launching a flurry of tablets, covering all segments, from budget-friendly models to high-end 12 inch slabs; from Android-powered slates to machines that run on Windows (the ATIV line-up). The Korean manufacturer believes that catering to every consumer’s needs is the key to success, and this strategy appears to be the exact opposite of what Apple has been doing so far (with the exception, perhaps, of the iPad Mini).

The president of Samsung Electronics’ IM Division has also predicted that the tablet market, especially the 10-inch+ slates, will become more popular and will eventually overshadow the laptop market segment. He has also revealed that Samsung will respond to every market’s demands by increasing their strengths and delivering more pen functions and thinner bezels.

We should also remind you that Samsung might plan on launching more AMOLED tablets in 2014. Feel free to check out our previously published article regarding the matter, in case you wish to learn a bit more about the benefits of AMOLED.
