The story of the second screen
Dan Simmons, BBC reporter, producer, and presenter of BBC Click, recently spoke to us about how ICT is shaping his industry by introducing a second screen.
According to Dan, over half the time viewers in America currently watch television, they use a second screen (mobile device, tablet, laptop or PC). He believes the second screen need not be a threat and should be seen as an opportunity for program makers to enhance the viewer’s experience by coming up with creative ways to complement the first. However, as Dan remarks, connectivity must be fast enough to enable future viewing experiences.
