Don’t be surprised if you start seeing some very Apple-looking Samsung stores

Samsung’s no stranger to retail, and we’ve been telling you about some of its stores for years now. Still, we hardly speak of them in the same breath as Microsoft or Apple stores (or at least, only when we’re talking about Samsung copying them), and haven’t come away with the impression that Samsung has nearly the same level of interest in brick-and-mortar endeavors. However, that could all be changing soon, as we get word that Samsung is not just rethinking its retail footprint, but has hired one of the minds behind Apple’s own stores to help it out.

Samsung has reportedly snatched-up designer Tim Gudgel, and may be using his Apple know-how to plan a new wave of Samsung retail locations, with a specific focus on bringing such stores to the US.

Considering how Samsung faces its greatest competition from Apple in the States, a string of retail locations – not just to sell new devices but also to give users a convenient place to get service – could do a lot to help narrow the gap between the companies. That’s not to say this is some silver bullet plan, but it could be a key component of a larger strategy to better connect with users.
