MAKING SURE YOU END UP IN THE RIGHT PLACE
In the song Istanbul, the band “They Might Be Giants” succinctly describes the issue with out of date maps: “So if you’ve a date in Constantinople/She’ll be waiting in Istanbul.”
Every day the world changes- cities get new names, new roads are paved, new airport terminals are built, speed limits change, and sometimes bridges – in thankfully rare cases – collapse.
That’s why we’re excited that real world map edits will now show up on here.com within one week. HERE has thousands of cartographers in about 200 field offices around the world who drive millions of kilometers of roads to capture those daily real world changes, but verifying and processing those edits is backbreaking work.

Now we’ve reduced the process to hours so that we can provide a map that isn’t just fresh, but also highly accurate. It’s a map that people can trust to reflect the world as it evolves.
Our first map update already shows a number of recent changes including updates to the Denver International Airport, Jerez de la Frontera Airport , Capodichino Airport, Munich-Model Z Airport and updates to more than 600 miles of highway speed limits in Ohio.
In addition you will see:
The new interchange at exit 205 of Highway I-35 at Homestead Lane in Edgerton, Kansas. The interchange, which officially opened October 11th, is the state’s first diverging diamond interchange which is expected to handle 13,200 vehicles a day this year alone.

The new US-33 bypass in Nelsonville Ohio, which officially opened on October 1, to eliminate bottlenecks in an important regional corridor.

New ramp systems and frontage roads along 90 kilometers of the A2 highway between Madrid and Guadalajara, Spain.

Soon all HERE customers will see the same level of freshness on their mobile phones, in their cars and across all devices in which location plays a key part. In the future HERE will be able to update maps within days, if not hours, so that our customers will never miss an important change and will be able to more quickly get to where they are going.
It’s certainly not an easy task keeping up with those real world changes and making sure HERE maps are always fresh and up to date, but it’s crucial to the business of mapping. Otherwise you might never make it to your date.
