Samsung patent shows 3-in-1 device with 'stretchable display'
Who can find a phone with a curved screen but boring, and certainly not waiting for - we mention only some - a Galaxy Note 7 , can now look to a recently published Samsung patent application showing a 3-in-1 device, based on an elastic - stretchable - OLED screen.
Samsung's homeland is today a patent application published with the name Device using stretchable display and controlling method of the same . In the patent describe the South Koreans - Samsung Display, to be exact - a stretchable display that curved in different ways and can be folded.
Collapsed to a narrow strip that provides a device that can be worn as a bracelet or smartwatch. Less curved or folded, we see a device the size of a - somewhat narrow - smartphone. And even further expanded is the whole as a tablet through life.
The patent application published today shows mainly a concept, not a specific device from which you can expect that it actually comes to lie in the shops. But the idea - a watch, phone and tablet in one convenient package - is obviously far from uninteresting.
This is not the first time that Samsung ideas based on a stretchable OLED display patents. The company had over the past few years several patents for this technology, and the document published today is another one and a half years old.
Although it is expected that Samsung early next year a first foldable smartphone will bring to market - sometimes under the name Galaxy X - we need to attend any Galaxy S8 to S9 expect or similar to the above case.
