Starcom wins global Samsung account
Electronics giant Samsung has selected Starcom as its global media partner with effect from January 2008, it was announced this morning, Friday, 25 January 2008. "The selection process was concluded in record time," says Gordon Patterson, MD of Starcom in South Africa.
Continues Patterson, "It took only 10 days from the brief and presentation to the ultimate appointment announcement, which is extremely unusual but most welcome. We are obviously excited to be partnering such a dynamic and strategically driven organisation."
According to Gregory Lee, CMO, Samsung Electronics, the Samsung team was impressed with Starcom's strategic planning capabilities, efficient buying commitment, valuable service, and the talented team offered to Samsung.
"Samsung has set a number of very ambitious and challenging brand building goals for the next few years, and media will play an absolutely critical role in helping us achieve these objectives. The Samsung team feels confident that Starcom brings together the best possible combination of talents and resources for our needs, and hope this marks the start of a long and productive relationship between Samsung and Starcom," says Lee.
According to Adex, in South Africa the annual Samsung investment for the latest 12-month period is over R90 million.
Through Starcom Africa, Samsung will also have a media presence in Kenya, Nigeria, Angola, Mozambique and Zambia.
