VTech® LAUNCHES INSTANT MESSAGING CORDLESS PHONE AT 2008 CES
Design-Forward 2008 Product Lineup Includes First Landline Offering to Combine Full Keypad with IM and Peer-to-Peer Voice Capabilities
Hong Kong – Leading cordless phone manufacturer VTech Communications, Inc. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of VTech Holdings Ltd. HKSE: 303; London SE: VTH; ADR: VTKHY), today introduced the IS6110 – the only cordless phone system to offer a full-QWERTY keyboard along with IM and instant voice (peer-to-peer calls) features. The new IS6110 rounds out VTech’s growing catalog of Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT 6.0) systems featuring leading-edge design and functionality.
“Because instant messaging is such a popular and often preferred form of communication for millions of consumers, VTech recognized the need for a landline telephone that could enable users to IM anywhere in their home,” said Matt Ramage, senior vice president of product management, VTech Communications, Inc. “We have taken IM a step further by incorporating a user-friendly keypad and display, as well as innovative design that is characteristic of our DECT cordless phones.”
Talk or Chat: VTech IS6110
Operating on the latest DECT platform for outstanding call clarity, security and interference-free conversations, the IS6110 gives users the option to make and receive landline calls or instant messages (IM) or instant voice (IV) calls. The cordless phone simply needs to be connected to a standard landline outlet and to a PC via the included USB cord. Support for AIM, MSN and Windows Live Messenger gives users access to these services anywhere in their home, while freeing up the family PC for other activities.
For the most user-friendly IM experience, the ergonomically-designed IS6110 also offers a full QWERTY keypad and extra-large, color LCD for easy viewing. Other key features include an integrated speakerphone, multiple ring tone options and a built-in 50 name and number phonebook directory.
Personal Style: VTech LS6117
VTech’s 2008 DECT offerings also include the LS6117, representing the next generation of the popular V Mix™ line known for its stand-out customization features and affordability. With an easy-to-use online tool, consumers can design and print their own artwork to slide into the back panel of the LS6117 – creating a phone that expresses their personal style. In addition to a unique slim handset, the LS6117 comes with five pre-created, interchangeable graphic inserts designed to appeal to tweens, teens and the youthful at heart.
Additional DECT Offerings Complete the 2008 Portfolio
Rounding out VTech’s offerings is a family of DECT phones in an array of bundling and pricing options. Boasting the beautifully slim design aesthetic of today’s most popular electronic devices, the LS6115 offers must-have features including caller ID, handset speakerphone for hands-free convenience, selectable ring tones and 50 name/number phonebook directory.
Sharing similar features as the LS6115 are the LS6115-2, LS6125, LS6125-2 and LS6125-3 phone systems. These offerings give consumers a broad selection of options for including a digital answering system or extra handsets only requiring one phone jack (additional product details are below).
Designed for Sustainability
VTech has initiated an ongoing commitment to environmentally friendly practices, including using renewable energy and aiming toward zero waste for more sustainable products. As part of this initiative, these 2008 DECT products are Energy Star® certified, delivering the same or better performance as competing products that require more energy, and offer RoHS compliance with reduced hazardous substances. Additionally, since 2007 the company has adopted patent-pending, 100 percent-recyclable window box packaging, to replace older clamshell/plastic packaging.
VTech's entire 2008 product line will be on display at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, January 7-10, at the Palms Tower. The new VTech DECT lineup, including the IMenabled IS6110, can be purchased at major retail outlets and online at www.vtechphones.com in the first half of 2008.
