LG Electronics Unveils ‘Touch Lighting Phone’
LG Electronics has unveiled an up-to-date touch-screen phone, riding on the worldwide touch-screen phone wave.
The world’s No. 5 handset manufacturer Monday released a 3-megapixel touch-screen phone that is 10.9 millimeters in width. The mobile phone, dubbed ``Touch Lighting Phone,’’ adopts the ``Interactive Touch Lighting’’ technology on the surface, enabling users to change images.
The LG-KF510 handset also features an ``Auto Luminance Control’’ function in a full light-emitting diode touch-pad on the front to save energy.
The latest model will make its first international debut at the ``GSMA Mobile World Congress 2008’’ ― formerly 3GSM World Congress ― the mobile industry’s biggest event, which will take place Feb. 11-24 in Barcelona, Spain.
``We will showcase an additional touch-based mobile lineup by maximizing user friendliness at the show,’’ said Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communication Company.
``LG-KF510 will be sold in the global markets from March at a price range of between $300 and $350 each depending on the region,’’ he added.
Inspired by impressive performances of Apple’s iPhone, major handset manufacturers such as Samsung Electronics, Sony-Ericsson and struggling Motorola have been rolling out touch-screen phones.
The market for touch-screen phones will increase to 35 million in 2008 from 15 million in 2007, according to data from Gartner, a market researcher. Also, Strategy Analytics has predicted that touch-screen phones will account for 40 percent of the market by 2012.
