Motorola Presents Technology That’s Second Nature™ at TETRA World Congress 2008

Motorola unveils its MOTOA4™ mission critical portfolio that represents a full evolution of advanced voice and data communications

HONG KONG – TETRA WORLD CONGRESS – 26 May, 2008 - Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced it will be showcasing its MOTOA4™ portfolio of mission critical devices and solutions at TETRA World Congress (TWC) 2008, the world’s largest TETRA conference and exhibition held in Asia for the first time from 26 to 29 May, 2008. Motorola’s booth ‘W’ is located on Level 7, Hall 7A of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“Since the first generation network was deployed in 1997, TETRA technology has evolved and undergone much development. It is entering a new phase with advances in areas such as enhanced applications and data capabilities. We are excited to be at the forefront of this growth and it is timely that TWC is held in Asia where Motorola is expanding its TETRA footprint not only in public safety, but also in other markets such as transportation,” said John Gherghetta, corporate vice president, Asia Pacific and Europe, Middle East & Africa, Motorola Government and Public Safety.

Motorola’s MOTOA4™ mission critical portfolio of solutions as well as devices provides technology that’s second nature by enabling seamless connectivity and putting real-time information directly in the hands of users. At TWC, Motorola will demonstrate a network operations center (NOC) that incorporates a host of integrated voice and wireless data applications between the NOC and other sections of the booth, including a rapid deployable communications system on a bullet-proof security vehicle as well as high speed data mobility on a next-generation traffic police motorbike.

Highlights from Motorola’s MOTOA4™ portfolio that will be on show at TETRA World Congress include:

- The world’s first-ever demo of TETRA Enhanced Data Services (TEDS) to handheld and vehicle based TETRA terminals, installed in a bullet-proof security vehicle
The TCR1000 TETRA Radio - the smallest, full-function body worn TETRA radio available for covert operations
- The MTP850Ex ATEX TETRA Radio – an intrinsically safe portable radio for comprehensive user safety in potentially explosive environments
Motorola’s Integrated Terminal Management that enables designated TETRA terminals to be remotely programmed without user intervention
- Motorola’s CM5000 TETRA Gateway Repeater - a vehicle or desk mounted terminal with both gateway and repeater functionality that extends the reach of TETRA systems in locations where coverage is compromised, newly available in Asia Pacific
- Motorola’s Third generation Message Content Switch (MCS3), a robust and flexible exchange server that allows users and applications to interoperate between the wireline and wireless networks. Based on IP architecture, it supports multiple wireless platforms including TETRA and APCO, with feature-rich user applications
- A wide range of Motorola’s current and future TETRA terminals and mobile radios as well as complementary devices and applications solutions.

“Moving forward, we want to harness the advances in technology to help our customers fully optimize the data capabilities of TETRA coverage, whether it’s through TEDS - next generation TETRA - or through wireless broadband as a complementary service to TETRA networks,” added Gherghetta.
.
At the TWC conference, John Gherghetta will share his insights on TETRA in a developing communications world though a keynote speech. In addition, over 10 Motorola customers from Asia and Europe will share their success stories on how TETRA technology is meeting their mission-critical requirements.
