HTC to ship Touch Pro and Touch Viva smartphones to India-based Idel Cellular
High Tech Computer (HTC) has added Idel Cellular into its client list in India, in addition to current partners, which include Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications, according to Jack Tong, vice president of HTC Asia.
HTC will cooperate with Idel Cellular to promote sales of two HTC handsets, the Touch Pro and Touch Viva, in India, Tong noted.
While teaming up with Taiwan Mobile (TWM) to sell the Touch HD handsets in the Taiwan market, HTC also plans to launch the Touch HD in other markets in Asia Pacific, including Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand, Tong indicated.
The Touch HD handsets are expected to be available in the Taiwan market starting December 2008, according to market sources.
HTC also expects its sales in the Asia-Pacific area to grow over 20% on year in 2009 despite slowing consumer demand caused by the recent global financial crisis, Tong projected.
