Ericsson to modernize T-Mobile's core network in Slovakia
Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has been chosen as sole supplier by T-Mobile Slovakia for mobile core IP infrastructure, offering the Ericsson Mobile Packet Backbone Network solution. The contract, which includes Redback's SmartEdge products, will boost network capacity and manage increased traffic growth.
The contract marks a significant step in T-Mobile Slovakia's evolution to an all-IP network. Ericsson's Mobile-PBN provides full telecom-quality IP transport for all traffic and will enable T-Mobile Slovakia to introduce high-quality services quickly, reliably and cost-effectively.
As part of the agreement, Ericsson will provide services including, network design, implementation, systems integration and support.
Ericsson's Mobile-PBN solution delivers proven IP infrastructure optimized to accommodate broadband packet-data traffic growth. Deployment has started and is scheduled for completion before the end of the year.
A key feature of Ericsson's Mobile-PBN solution is advanced router technology from Redback Networks, an Ericsson company. The Redback SmartEdge router platform is the only multi-access edge router that employs a single network box to deliver any combination of data, voice and video services across both fixed and mobile networks. It will enable T-Mobile Slovakia to deliver reliable and predictable performance for real-time voice and broadband services.
Farshid Ebrahimi-Ghajar, CTO at T-Mobile Slovakia, says: "Ericsson's technology leadership and end-to-end capabilities will enable T-Mobile Slovakia to increase network capacity for delivery of high-quality multimedia services. We are delighted to partner with Ericsson in our move toward a next-generation all-IP network."
Staffan Henriksson, President of Ericsson Slovakia, says: "This landmark project reaffirms our close cooperation with T-Mobile Slovakia and underscores our continuing successful relationship. Ericsson's solution will help T-Mobile Slovakia increase network efficiency and offer the latest multimedia services cost-effectively to its subscribers."
