Garmin Nuvifone handset from Asustek gains FCC approval, says paper

The US FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has recently approved Asustek Computer's Calf handset, which bears the Garrmin brand logo and trade name, the Nuvifone G60, indicating that the leading PND vendor has moved one-step forward to bring its first GPS-enable handset to market, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN).

Garmin is expected to launch the Nuvifone G60 in cooperation with AT&T in the US market in the first quarter of 2009, with a possibility of also launching the GPS handset in the Taiwan market during the same quarter, the paper noted.
