NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge extends registration deadline to December 5, 2008 for Americas region
NAVTEQ has extended the registration deadline for the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge® one week from November 28, 2008 to December 5, 2008 for the Americas region. Sony Ericsson is a co-sponsor of this competition, providing qualifying contestants with C905 and C702 phones and software tools to enable Java™ ME and Project Capuchin application creation. Sony Ericsson Developer World also supplies quick registration links for registered members to join the NAVTEQ Network for Developers.
Registration for the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge in America closes December 5, 2008
If you have a great idea for a mobile LBS application or already have an existing non-commercial LBS application, be sure to register before the December 5, 2008 deadline. A completed solution is not required at the time of registration. All Americas registrants will have until January 2, 2009 to submit their solutions. The winners of the Global LBS Challenge – Americas will be announced during CTIA in Las Vegas on April 2, 2009.
This year's global prize pool is the largest to date - over $5.25 million USD in cash, tool and data licenses, and handsets. Additionally, your application could generate the priceless exposure needed to take it to market – according to NAVTEQ, approximately 30% of the semifinalist companies have gone on to receive venture capital funding or launched commercially-distributed applications, many on major wireless carriers, since the launch of the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge in 2003.
Other dates to remember:
Registration deadline for Americas region: December 5, 2008 (extended date)
Registration deadline for Asia-Pacific region: February 13, 2009
Winners for Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) will be announced at an awards ceremony on February 17, 2009 during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain
(You may register for any region, regardless of your residence. Registration and submission for EMEA is now closed.)
NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge and Sony Ericsson's Project Capuchin technology
Sony Ericsson is a co-sponsor of the 2009 NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge, providing qualifying contestants with C905 and C702 phones and software tools to enable Java ME and Project Capuchin application creation.
Sony Ericsson's Project Capuchin SDK is a set of APIs, a packaging tool, documents and getting-started tutorials that enables developers to bridge the Java ME and Adobe® Flash Lite™ programming environments.
Project Capuchin allows developers to combine the richness of both Java ME and Flash Lite by encapsulating Flash Lite content in Java ME applications making content created by Adobe Flash technology appear as Java ME applications.
In addition to being involved with the judging process, Sony Ericsson Developer World also supplies quick registration links for registered members to join the NAVTEQ Network for Developers (NN4D).
