Updating Open Handset Alliance: Sony Ericsson, ASUS and Garmin
In Alliance Open Handset Alliance took another 14 companies, among them such as AKM Semiconductor, ARM, ASUSTek Computer, Atheros Communications, Borqs, Ericsson, Garmin International, Huawei Technologies, Omron Software, Softbank Mobile Corporation, Sony Ericsson, Teleca AB, Toshiba Corporation and Vodafone.
By joining the Open Handset Alliance, they reaffirmed the intention to maintain an open mobile platform Android. Companies will create devices based on Android, to provide the code for the project Android Open Source Project, or to maintain ecosystem services and products, accelerating the emergence of Android-devices.
In a separate press release, Sony Ericsson, on entry into Open Handset Alliance, noted that the company intends to develop a line of phones on the platform Android.
