AT&T Labs Announces Technology Award Winners
Company Recognizes 14 Employees for Outstanding Achievements and Contributions Made in Technology and Science
AT&T Labs announced the names and accomplishments of three AT&T Fellows Honor recipients and 11 Science and Technology Medalists at the AT&T Technology Awards Dinner at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.
Recognized publicly since 1982, AT&T Labs annually acknowledges those individuals in its technical community who have made continual, outstanding and unique contributions to the company and the world through their technical and scientific achievements. These men and women are bestowed with the AT&T Fellows Honor for making a great impact on the business and the scientific world.
AT&T Science and Technology Medalists also are acknowledged in the company's technical community for demonstrating remarkable technical depth in a given area that results in a unique and significant contribution to innovation at AT&T Labs.

Recipients of the AT&T Fellows Honor for 2008 are:
Rick Becker (Florham Park), for wide-ranging impact on the statistics community and work in fraud management and control, enabling savings in the billions of dollars for the company.
Paul Henry (Middletown, N.J.), for contributions to optical and wireless communications systems critical to the company's mission of anytime, anywhere communications.
John Medamana (Middletown, N.J.), for outstanding inventions and leadership in the innovation of data network services that have shaped many of the company's enterprise data transport services today.
The 2008 AT&T Science and Technology Medalists are:
Alicia Abella (Florham Park) for outstanding research, vision and leadership in interactive voice dialing and natural language dialog management.
Ahmad Ansari (Austin, Texas), for outstanding contributions to our AT&T U-verse IPTV service.
Bruce Cortez (Middletown, N.J.), for innovation in the company's Intelligent Optical Network and leadership in the Competitive Network Initiative project.
Giuseppe Di Fabbrizio (Florham Park), for sustained innovation in advanced speech technologies and their deployment within the company's contact center service offerings.
Richard Else(Warrenville, Ill.), for innovative work in expanding call switching and fraud prevention.
Frank Jiang (San Ramon, Calif.), for outstanding contributions in delivering the tools that monitor and support our broadband services.
Sherry McCaughan (Richmond, Va.), for contributions to the development and design of the company's next-generation IP/MPLS backbone network.
Mike Morris (Middletown, N.J.), for leadership in providing innovative network management capabilities for our customers.
Jack Murray (Florham Park), for key technical contributions advancing IP and voice and data services.
C. Brian Rexroad (Florham Park), for technical innovation in the security analysis of IP networks.
Tom Starr (Hoffman Estates, Ill.), for driving the development and standardization of VDSL, which serves as the core of our U-verse network.
