Motorola CDMA Femtocells Selected as 2009 Consumer Electronics Show Innovations Design and Engineering Award Honoree

LAS VEGAS – CES - Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT), a leading provider of wired and wireless broadband solutions, today announced that its KeepMeConnected™ Femtocells - CDMA 9100 Series has been selected as an honoree of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Innovations 2009 Design and Engineering Awards. The integrated touch-screen digital picture frame with a built-in femtocell is recognized in the Furniture product category.

The CDMA Femtocell 9100 Series includes a session-initiated protocol (SIP) / voice-over Internet protocol (VoIP) soft phone and provides enhanced mobile phone coverage inside the home. A first of its kind, the CDMA 9100 Series allows users to deploy a femtocell - a small, low-cost, wireless access point – connected through a broadband connection for optimal wireless performance and coverage. The device also serves as a touch-screen digital picture frame, fitting aesthetically into a home environment.

Making it simple for users to manage and deploy wireless coverage in their home or small business, the CDMA Femtocell 9100 Series measures users’ indoor coverage needs. Its integrated touch screen allows consumers to manage the femtocell coverage with a user-friendly interface. Manually, users can specify coverage radius, average number of walls, windows, doors, or select one or more mobile devices to optimize the coverage area and performance. In addition, device and subscriber management and access control settings can be controlled dynamically on the device itself.

The CDMA 9100 Series helps consumers stay connected, while allowing them to do more with their phone inside the home. The device allows users to have a single, basic land line service (using VoIP) for both land line and mobile phones, even if they are using a mobile device outside the home. This means users can have one bill, one phone and a single service provider. The integrated digital picture frame enables consumers to display images that reflect their personal style.

Products entered in the prestigious International CES Innovations 2009 Design and Engineering Awards program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the trade press to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products. Entries are judged based on engineering qualities, based on technical specs and materials used; aesthetic and design qualities; intended use/function and user value; and unique/novel features that consumers would find attractive. The KeepMeConnected Femtocells – CDMA 9100 Series will be displayed during the 2009 International CES, January 8-11, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada at Motorola’s booth (#8545) and the Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase at the Sands Expo and Convention Center/The Venetian booth (#72062).
