Motorola Ships 1,000 High-Density Downstream Modules to Cable Operators Worldwide, Expanding Personalized Media Experiences
Proven solution delivers a five-fold increase in downstream cable modem termination system (CMTS) capacity, compelling downstream port economics and significant levels of investment protection
Horsham, PA – February 11, 2009 – Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced that the company has provided international cable customers with more than 1,000 units of its TX32 Decoupled Downstream Module. The TX32 enables operators to quickly deploy ultra-broadband services of up to 200 Mbps downstream, while achieving as much as 60% in cost savings per downstream channel. The industry’s highest-density, downstream module, the TX32 is the latest innovation added to the widely deployed DOCSIS® 3.0 CableLabs® Bronze Qualified Motorola BSR 64000 Integrated CMTS/edge router solution.

The TX32 solution requires only one slot in an existing Motorola BSR 64000 Integrated CMTS/edge router to support the delivery of 32 downstream QAM channels - a unique benefit of the TX32 integrated solution. Motorola’s DOCSIS 3.0 qualified CMTS portfolio includes support for IPv4 and IPv6 and advanced encryption services and is backwards compatible with DOCSIS 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0 standards. Designed for service assurance, the Motorola CMTS is also compatible with Motorola’s NBBS device management platform and Motorola’s eCare solution for remote customer configuration and support.
