"We're proud to work alongside nearly all of the industry's top TV manufacturers, and, as a result, expand our leadership and influence within the HDTV marketplace through the integration of our world-class audio solutions," said Allen H. Gharapetian, Vice President of Marketing for SRS Labs. "The HDTV experience is incomplete without the rich, immersive benefit of SRS audio solutions such as SRS TruSurround and SRS TruVolume, which deliver the most comprehensive and consistent multimedia experience possible."
During 2008, SRS strengthened its HDTV partnerships, allowing the company to increase traction within the FPTV industry, which collectively shipped roughly 119 million(1) FPTVs globally last year. In 2008, SRS-equipped FPTVs accounted for approximately 36 million(1) of the total units shipped, which represents a 30-percent(1) estimated market share. And, based upon current 2009 projections, surrounding market trends and year-over-year FPTV unit growth of 12.5 percent(1), SRS expects to increase its market share to reach 34-percent. It is estimated that approximately 46 million FPTVs will ship with SRS technologies during 2009.
"Despite the difficult global economic conditions that have consumers pulling back spending, desire to own a flat panel TV remains high," said DisplaySearch Director of North America TV Research, Paul Gagnon. "DisplaySearch is still forecasting global flat panel TV shipments to grow 13-percent in 2009 to more than 134 million units."
Throughout 2009, the top 18 of 20 FPTV manufacturers such as Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic, RCA, Sharp, TCL, Toshiba, Hisense, Vizio, Haier and Hitachi among others will ship models featuring SRS sound reaffirming SRS' position as the de facto standard for FPTV audio. Specifically, SRS solutions such as SRS TruSurround HD(TM), SRS TruSurround XT(R) and SRS TruVolume will be included within various HDTV models.
The SRS TruSurround solution suites create rich immersive surround sound experiences over an HDTV's built-in stereo speakers, while SRS TruVolume eliminates the volume fluctuations that are commonly encountered when switching between sources, channels, and when programming transitions to commercials.
To commemorate the occasion, SRS Labs is running a sweepstakes to give away three RCA HDTVs featuring the SRS TruSurround XT suite. The sweepstakes will take place March 23 - April 20, 2009. To enter for your chance to win, please visit http://www.srslabs.com/TVsweeps.
